Arpan Das wins 4th Ayodhana International Rating Open 2022

Top seed of the tournament, Arpan scored an unbeaten 8/9 and finished a half point ahead of the field. This is his second consecutive triumph after winning the 1st HDCA All India Open Rating the previous month. Rupam Mukherjee scored 7.5/9 to finish sole second. This is his second consecutive podium finish, after winning 15th G H Raisoni Memorial Rating Open in June. Five players scored 7/9. Assam's very own, Neelabh Jyoti Borthakur was placed third according to tie-breaks. He drew with the eventual champion in the seventh round. Total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 R5: Gukesh and Adhiban keep India 2 at the top

India 2 registered their fifth consecutive win of 44th Chess Olympiad. Spain lost to them 1.5-2.5. Gukesh and Adhiban scored the key victories for the team, Nihal drew and Praggnanandhaa lost. Armenia is the only other who is at the exact same score 10/10. Naturally they will face each other in the sixth round before the rest day. India 1 got back to winning ways, thanks to Arjun Erigaisi's win which helped them beat Romania 2.5-1.5. In the Women's section, India 2 defeated France 2.5-1.5. Platon Galperin wins 10th Pontevedra Masters, Leon Luke Mendonca third

IM Platon Galperin (UKR) scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 to win 10th Pontevedra Masters 2022. He finished a half point ahead of the competition. GM Karen Grigoryan (ARM) and GM Leon Luke Mendonca scored 7/9 each. Leon was placed third according to tie-breaks. The only other Indian to finish in top 10 is - IM P Shyam Nikhil. He scored 6/9. Both Platon and Leon remained undefeated. Karen lost against both of them. Total Prize fund of the tournament was €12000. Top three prizes were €2000, €1200 and €800 along with a trophy each. 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 R4: The Young Guns of India 2 continue their roar, Abdusattorov capsizes Caruana

Critics and pundits of the game put higher stock in India 2 than other teams. So far they have not been proven wrong. India 2 continues to lead the table by notching up their fourth consecutive win. They defeated Italy 3-1. Gukesh and Nihal Sarin led the charge by scoring victories. Praggnanandhaa and Raunak maintained stronghold by drawing their respective games. India 1 could only manage to draw with France 2-2. In the Women's section, IM Tania Sachdev and WGM Vantika Agrawal scored a win each to ensure India 1 and India 2's victory over Hungary and Estonia respectively. Round 5 starts today at 3 p.m. IST. Iniyan wins a double at 38th Andorra Open 2022, Rathanvel third

India's 61st GM Iniyan P won two tournaments almost a year ago in Noisiel, France. This time he delivered a similar fantastic performance in Andorra. He won both 38th Andorra International Open and the Blitz Grand Prix. In the Classical event, he scored an unbeaten 7/9 and in Blitz he made 8/9, became a clear champion. GM Josep Manuel Lopez Martinez (ESP) also scored 7/9. He was placed second according to tie-breaks. A total of 12 players scored 6.5/9 each. IM Rathanvel V S secured third place according to tie-breaks. Total prize fund of the tournament was €10500. Top three prizes were €2100, €1500 and €1000. All six Indian teams maintain their winning streak. In the Open section, India 2 is yet to concede even a half point. They won all three of their matches 4-0. In Round 3, Gukesh, Nihal, Praggnanandhaa and Raunak all teenagers faced Switzerland. Praggnanandhaa persevered a completely lost position and managed to win against Yannick Pelletier on time. Although he was not happy about it. Harikrishna and Arjun Erigaisi scored important wins to ensure India 1 beats Greece. Among the Women, Vaishali and Bhakti's wins propelled India 1 to beat England. We often get to know about various tournament news of Japan from Mayur Gondhalekar. However, this time his good friend, Sheldon Donaldson writes a blog about his journey towards 1800. He started playing chess a decade ago, although he is playing over-the-board chess only for a year. All six Indian teams won their respective matches in Round 2. In the Open section, India 2 scored a whitewash again, this time it was against Estonia. India 1, India 3 and India 2 Women defeated Moldova, Mexico and Latvia respectively. India 3 Open and Women defeated Mexico and Singapore with a 2.5-0.5 and 3-1 score. Humpy, Raunak and Ganguly overcame adverse positions. World champion Magnus Carlsen scored his first Classical victory in India since 2013. His team Norway whitewashed Uruguay 4-0. 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 R1: Indian teams start with six whitewashes

The host nation India won all six matches and 24 individual games in the first round of 44th Chess Olympiad. 16-year-old GM Raunak Sadhwani scored the fastest victory among all Indians. IM Tania Sachdev had to battle over five hours and 103 moves later she became victorious. GM Koneru Humpy also shoof off initial cobwebs to score a win. All teams scored a resounding victory against the minnow teams. Laxman and Nitin win GRT Shasun Jain College Rapid and Blitz Rating Open 2022

44th Chess Olympiad being just a few hourss away, Tamil Nadu is having several tournaments all over the state to celebrate the sporting event to ever take place in India. Among them, GRT Shasun Jain College Rapid and Blitz Rating Open tournament took place at Shasun Jain College for Women on 22nd and 23rd July 2022. The Blitz event had more participants than Rapid. GM Laxman R R emerged victorious in the Rapid. Both him and Arpan Das scored 8/9 each. He clinched the championship due to better tie-breaks. IM Pranesh M was adjudged third 7.5/9 among the three players who finished with the same score. India's 31st GM Shyam Sundar M, 68th GM Arjun Kalyan, WGM Srija Seshadri, 14th GM Neelotpal Das, IM Harshavardhan G B and IM Srihari L R relayed the Chess Olympiad Torch in various parts of the host state, Tamil Nadu. The man who revolutionized chess India decades ago and carried it to all over the world, Vishy Anand relayed the Torch to Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin. GM D Gukesh and GM Praggnanandhaa R received the Torch from them and relayed it with IM Subbaraman Vijayalakshmi. Who will take the figurative Torch from Anand and run across the world next? 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 preview

The 44th edition of the Chess Olympiad is the biggest Olympiad in the history, less than 24 hours away now. It is also the biggest sporting spectacle to ever take place in India. A total of 350 teams, 1736 players are taking part from 189 countries across the world. The host nation India is going to have six teams and 30 players taking part, which is the highest ever for a single edition of this extravaganza. Reigning World Champion Magnus Carlsen will play in the Olympiad for the first time since 2016. The legend who inspired the nation and beyond, Vishy Anand is the mentor for the Indian teams. Rajdeep Sarkar wins Kashmir Open Rating 2022

Top two seeds of the tournament, IM Rajdeep Sarkar (WB) and GM Himanshu Sharma (HAR) scored an unbeaten 8.5/9. The game between them also ended in a draw. Rajdeep won the tournament due to better tie-breaks, Himanshu was adjudged second. Four players scored 7/9. Out of them, Chandrasekhar M K (DASCB) was placed third according to tie-breaks.The total prize fund of the event was ₹200000. Top three prizes  were ₹50000, ₹30000 and ₹20000 along with Kashmiri handcrafted trophies each.
