4th President Cup Masters 2025 R3: Nihal Sarin beats Yuriy Kuzubov

Nihal Sarin scored his second win of the event against Yuriy Kuzubov (UKR). The third round of 4th International President Cup 2025 Masters had three decisive games. In an already difficult major piece endgame, Kuzubov first misplayed and then lost his rook. Mukhiddin Madaminov (UZB) and Shamsiddin Vokhidov (UZB) are the remaining two victors of the round against Abdimalik Abdisalimov (UZB) and Alexander Grischuk respectively. Indian Oil 51st National Women 2025 R4: Mary Ann, Shubhi, Divi and Akshaya make a perfect start

WGM Mary Ann Gomes, WFM Shubhi Gupta, WCM Divi Bijesh and WCM Akshaya Sathi are the four players who have made a perfect start at Indian Oil 51st National Women Chess Championship 2025. Shubhi got the better of one of the leaders, Nivedita after the latter's queen got stuck at b7 for the better part of the game. Jeevika crumbled against Mary Ann. Akshaya outplayed WGM Varshini V. Divi continues her great form as she capitalized on her opponent, WCM Deekshitha Modipalli's mistake in the endgame. Second seeded, WGM Sarayu Velpula got outplayed WFM Bristy Mukherjee after the former made a questionable choice early in the game. The four leaders will face each other in the fifth round. GRECO Law Company wins FIDE World Corporate Chess Championship 2025

GRECO Law Company defeated Morgan Stanley by 3.5-0.5 in the second Final match to win FIDE World Corporate Chess Championship 2025. The winning team also earned the title of The Smartest Company in the World. The first match of the Finals between GRECO and Morgan Stanley ended in a 2-2 draw. Thus, Morgan Stanley finished second. GRECO had one GM and three IMs, all from Ukraine. The runner-up, Morgan Stanley comprised of two GMs, one IM and two FMs. Deloitte 1 beat Google 3-1 in both duels to finish third. Deloitte 1 had three IMs and a WFM, the sole female participant in the entire tournament. Total 11 teams, six in Pool A and five in Pool B participated in the Round-Robin Pool stage after qualifying through lichess online qualifiers. The top two teams from each Pool advanced to the Semifinals. Unlike the previous edition, chess federations and associations were prohibited from participating. 4th President Cup Masters 2025 R2: Five draws

The second round of 4th International President Cup 2025 Masters witnessed five draws. Nihal Sarin was up against France no.6, Maxime Lagarde. The game started in the Closed Ruy Lopez. Nihal sacrificed a pawn on the queenside to gain some initiative. However, none to be found. Soon a bunch of pieces got exchanged and the game arrived at an equal rook and minor pieces endgame. Draw became the obvious result. Currently, five players - Shant Sargsyan (ARM), Mukhiddin Madaminov (UZB), Bardiya Daneshvar (IRI), Shamsiddin Vokhidov (UZB) and Nihal are at 1.5/2 each. Indian Oil 51st National Women 2025 R3: Nivedita and Divi Bijesh beat WGMs

WFM Nivedita V C (TN) and WCM Divi Bijesh (KER) defeated WGMs Srija Seshadri (TN) and Swati Ghate (LIC) respectively in Round 3 of Indian Oil 51st National Women Championship 2025. The new Commonwealth 2025 Women Gold medalist, Srija got herself in trouble right out of the opening and could not recover for the rest of the game. Divi on the other hand scored another impressive win over the legendary WGM. WFM Bristy Mukherjee (WB) and Maitreyi Mondal (WB) held the top seed, WIM Arpita Mukherjee (WB) and the defending champion, WGM Nandhidhaa P V (TN) to well contested draws. Saptorshi Gupta clear first at New Zealand Fischer Random Championship 2025

Saptorshi Gupta scored an unbeaten 5.5/6 to win New Zealand Fischer Random Championship 2025. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. FM Felix Xie (NZL) scored 5/6 to finish second overall. However, Felix is declared as the official champion as he is the highest finisher among New Zealand players. CM Kendrick Botong Zhang (NZL) and FM Alphaeus Wei Arn Ang (NZL) scored 4.5/6 each. They shared third place. The total prize fund was NZ$ 2450. The top three prizes were NZ$ 500, 350 and 250. This was Saptorshi's second of the year and overall third triumph in New Zealand. The defending champion, GM Nihal Sarin started his defense with a win against GM Frederik Svane (GER) at 4th International President Cup 2025 Masters. Facing the Germany no.4, Nihal made his intentions clear in the middlegame. He went for an attack on the kingside and his opponent on the other flank. The pieces were traded and the German arrived at an unfavorable rook and minor piece endgame. After an incorrect pawn trade offer, the position liquidated into a rook and double knight where Nihal used his pieces beautifully to win the game. The Masters has an average rating of 2625 with an average age of 26. The total prize fund of the tournament was US$ 80000, an increase of $5000 from previous edition. WCM Divi Bijesh (KER) and Dakshita Kumawat (RAJ) scored two big upsets over FM Sherali Pattnaik (UTT) and WIM Srishti Pandey (MAH) respectively in Round 2 of Indian Oil 51st National Women Championship 2025. Divi used her passed h-pawn beautifully to earn a victory over the fourth seed. Siya Sagar (GUJ) played a well contested draw against the third seed, WGM Priyanka Nutakki (AP). GM R Praggnanandhaa drew his final round game against one the defending cochampions, GM Ilya Smirin (ISR) at XTX Markets London Chess Classic Open 2025. GM Velimir Ivic (SRB) defeated GM Matthieu Cornette (ENG) and GM Daniel H Fernandez (ENG) lost to GM Ameet K Ghasi (ENG). Thus, Praggnanandhaa, Ivic and Ameet, all three ended up with the same score 7/9. Since this tournament does not have a tie-break system, all three players scoring 7/9, shared the first place. Arjun Erigaisi won a dream final against the one and only, Vishy Anand. Arjun had some chances in the first Rapid game. However, it ended in a draw. The second Rapid game also had the same outcome. Arjun struck in the first 3'+2" Blitz tie-break game. He drew the second one even though he was winning as a draw was enough for him to win the match and Jerusalem Masters 2025 tournament. The top seeds of Indian Oil 51st National Women Championship 2025 had a smooth start. Only WFM Shubhi Gupta (UP) was in real danger against Charudharshini R (TN). FM Sherali Pattnaik (UTT) scored the fastest win of the round among the top ten seeds. The defending champion, WGM Nandhidhaa P V (TN) had to earn her full point against Pavithra R V (TN). Peter Svidler topped the Round-Robin stage scoring an unbeaten 8/11 at Jerusalem Masters 2025. Ian Nepomniachtchi, Vishy Anand and Arjun Erigaisi scored 7.5/11 each. They all advanced to the Knockout stage. Apart from Arjun, the remaining three remained undefeated. The highly anticipated battle between Anand and Arjun ended in a draw. GM R Praggnanandhaa defeated GM David Gavrilescu (ROU) to emerge sole leader at XTX Markets London Chess Classic Open 2025. Praggnanandhaa made the most out of his opportunity when his opponent made an incorrect rook movement while already lacking enough space. Praggnanandhaa broke out of the six leaders' pack to move to 6.5/8. A win in the last round will make him a clear champion whereas a draw might allow the pursuers to catch up. West Bengal's very own - WIM Arpita Mukherjee is the top seed, WGM Sarayu Velpula second and WGM Priyanka Nutakki third. The defending champion, WGM Nandhidhaa P V will also be seen in action.
