Kartavya Anadkat conquers 5th Kamlaram Welfare Society Rapid Rating Open 2023

Kartavya Anadkat scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 5th Kamlaram Welfare Society Rapid Rating Open 2023. Kartavya finished a half point ahead of the field. He defeated the eventual runner-up, Madhvendra Pratap Sharma and drew against the second runner-up, Aishwin Daniel. The reigning National Under-9 Open and Asian Under-10 Open triple Gold medalist, Madhvendra score 8/9 to secure second place. Aishwin scored 7.5/9 to be placed third. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹101000. The top three prizes were ₹15000, ₹10000 and ₹6000 along with a trophy each respectively. This is Kartavya's sixth tournament victory of the year. The current Gujarat State Blitz champion has now won a rating tournament in all three formats - Classical, Rapid and Blitz each in 2023. 56th Biel MTO R4: Kashish Jain and Ajay Krishna shine in contrasting victories

FM Kashish Manoj Jain and IM Ajay Krishna S scored contrasting yet fantastic victories at 56th Biel Chess Festival MTO Round 4. Kashish positionally outplayed his opponent GM Nikita Meshkovs (LAT). Ajay on the other hand, launched a sound attack against GM Viktor Erdos (HUN) to register a victory. GM Yan Liu (CHN) has taken sole lead by winning against GM Aryan Chopra. IM Aditya S Samant held GM Ngoc Truong Son Nguyen (VIE) to a draw. GM Pranav Anand defeated IM Marco Materia (FRA) to join Aditya in a four-way pursuit 3.5/4 each. Gukesh dominates Turkish Super League 2023 with Vidit & Vaishali, becomes youngest ever to cross 2750, now World no.11

GM D Gukesh defeated GM Klementy Sychev in the final round to become the youngest ever to cross 2750 in the live ratings. He is also now world no.11. His team Türk Hava Yollari Spor Kulübü won Türkiye Iş Bankasi Chess Super League 2023 with a round to spare. Gukesh's teammates, GM Vidit Gujrathi and IM Vaishali R all three of them remained undefeated. They scored 7.5/10, 6/8 and 9/11 each respectively. Vidit is now world no.25 and Vaishali world no.26 among women. Vaishali played all eleven games and she won her last five games in-a-row. The winning team scored an unbeaten 21/22 and finished two points ahead of the runner-up. Bayegan Pendik Satranç Spor Kulübü scored 19/21 to secure second place. GM Arjun Erigaisi had a great opportunity to win against GM David Navara (CZE) for the first time at 56th Biel Chess Festival GMT 2023. Despite finding the correct way to gain substantial advantage, the teenager could not find the intricate maneuver of his rooks, before creating an escape route for his king. This draw helped the Czech Republic no.1 to maintain his sole lead in the GMT 15.5/22. GM Aryan Chopra and IM Aditya S Samant scored comfortable victories to become the early leaders with GM Yan Liu (CHN) 3/3. Praggnanandhaa triumphs at V Géza Hetényi Memorial 2023 with a 2833 performance

R Praggnanandhaa drew his final round game against Radoslaw Wojtaszek to win V Géza Hetényi Memorial 2023. The teenager finished a full point ahead a strong field having the average rating of 2669. He performed at 2833 and gained 17.3 Elo rating points at this event. His live rating is now 2707.3, making him currently the world no.31. When he breaks into top 30, it will be the first time India will have six players in world top 30. The boy is carrying all the momentum and great form heading towards the important FIDE World Cup 2023. Magnus Carlsen's inspirational words at the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League surely boosted Praggnanandhaa's confidence. Vishy Anand being on his side at WACA is a huge boost too. Giga Quparadze wins 7th Batumi Municipality Cup Open 2023, Aradhya Garg second

GM Giga Quparadze (GEO), FM Aradhya Garg and IM Vahe Danielyan (ARM) scored 6.5/9 each at 7th International Chess Festival - Batumi Municipality Cup 2023 Open A (≥ 2200). Giga won the tournament due to better tie-breaks. Aradhya and Vahe were placed second and third respectively. IM-elect Aradhya gained a valuable 23.4 Elo rating points. He needs to touch 2400 in the live ratings to become India's latest IM. The total prize fund of the entire festival was 50250 GEL. The top three prizes in the Open A were 7000, 4000 and 3000 GEL each respectively. Praggnanandhaa on the verge of winning V Géza Hetényi Memorial 2023

17-year-old R Praggnanandhaa continues his good form from Tech Mahindra Global Chess League. He crossed 2700 in the live ratings when he beat Parham Maghsoodloo in the second round on 12th July at V Géza Hetényi Memorial 2023. The teenager won the next two games before suffering his first loss against M Amin Tabatabaei. Immediately in the following round, he bounced back with a victory against Peter Prohaszka. The next two games ended in draws against Pavel Eljanov and Maxim Matlakov. Praggnanandhaa needs a draw in the last round against Poland no.2 Radoslaw Wojtaszek to become a clear champion. GM Arjun Erigaisi salvaged a draw against GM Yangyi Yu in the first round of 56th Biel GMT 2023. Arjun was lost for the better part of the endgame against the China no.2. However, he persevered tough positions and eventually managed to escape with a 1.5 points. GM Liem Quang Le (VIE) and GM David Navara (CZE) scored the victories over GM Bogdan-Daniel Deac (ROU) and GM Bassem Amin (EGY) respectively. Navara is the early sole leader in the GMT with 14/18 points. IM Harikrishnan A Ra scored a fantastic win over Latvia no.2 GM Nikita Meshkovs. GM Aryan Chopra won the 'Beauty Award' for his first round win. Akash G triumphs at 6th Bohumín Open 2023

GM Akash G and FM Stanislaw Zylka (POL) scored 7/9 each at 6th Bohumín Open A (≥1900) 2023. Akash defeated Zylka in the sixth round. It became the deciding factor for him to win the tournament. IM Piotr Nguyen (POL), IM Jakub Pulpan (CZE) and FM Iwo Godzwon (POL) scored 6.5/9 each. They were placed third to fifth respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was 61000 CZK. The top three prizes were 15000 + trophy, 10000 and 8000 CZK. This is Akash's first tournament triumph of the year. His also first tournament victory since he won the Prague International Chess Festival back in February 2020. IM Kushagra Mohan and FM Md. Imran scored an unbeaten 9/10 each at Masthanaiah Chess World Rapid Rating Open 2023. Kushagra won the tournament due to better tie-breaks, Imran was placed second. FM Harsh Suresh, IM D V Prasad, IM Ramnathan Balasubramaniam, Nihal Swarna, Mani Bharathy and Hari Charan Sai Kalluri scored 8.5/10 each. They were placed third to eighth respectively. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹50000, ₹20000 and ₹10000 along with a trophy each respectively. Nashik Chess Club: A positive step towards Chess growth

Nashik, the city of grapes, is dubbed as having the best weather and a fascinating cultural and historical heritage. However, Nashik also has a strong chess heritage. Grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi, India's third-ranked player, hails from there! But I doubt you would find any chess clubs in Nashik if you looked anyplace.  You can now, though! Mr. Onkar Jadhav established a chess club in Nashik's city central mall in conjunction with his chess academy. Since he began teaching chess to students many years ago, Mr. Onkar Jadhav, a national level coach, has had several of his pupils go on to achieve titles as players. He just made the decision to launch a chess club in order to promote the game. The chess club takes place every Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the City Centre Mall. Ameya Audi amazing at České Budějovice Chess Festival Open 2023

IM Ameya Audi scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win České Budějovice Chess Festival Rating Open A 2023. He finished a full point ahead of the field. GM Vignir Vatnar Stefansson (ISL) and Benedikt Briem (ISL) scored 7/9 each. They were placed second and third respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was over 90000 CZK. The top three prizes were 10000, 8000 and 6000 along with a trophy each. This is Ameya's second tournament triumph of the year. Earlier this year he won a Rapid Rating Open where he also finished a full point ahead of others. FM Jeet Jain earned his second IM-norm in the IM Round-Robin event. He scored 6.5/9 to finish second. Pranav Anand dominates 56th Biel Chess Festival Rapid Open 2023

GM Pranav Anand scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win 56th Biel International Chess Festival Rapid Open (RAP) 2023. He finished a half point ahead of the field. Both IM Shawn Rodrigue-Lemieux (CAN) and IM Marco Materia (FRA) scored 7.5/9 each. They secured second and third place. The total prize fund in this event was CHF 3600 + non-cash prizes. The top three prizes were CHF 800, 700 and 600 along with a medal each respectively. IM Vantika Agrawal and IM Harikrishnan A Ra scored 7/9 each. They secured fifth and sixth place respectively. Vantika is the sole female player to make a top 20 finish. GM Bharath Subramaniyam H scored 6.5/9 to finish eighth.Vincent Keymer (GER) and David Navara (CZE) topped the GMT Rapid event.
