Nitin S wins 33rd RCC STS Classical Rating 2026
IM Nitin S scored an unbeaten 8/9 points to win the 33rd RCC STS International FIDE Rated Classical Chess Cup 2026. Nitin S and Sham R both scored 8/9 points to finish in 1st and 2nd place according to tiebreak scores. Sarvana Krishnan P, Murali Krishnan BT, Nishant TR, and Anilkumar OT scored 7.5/9 points to finish in 3rd to 6th places, respectively. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹5,00,001, and the top 3 prizes were ₹70,000, ₹50,000, and ₹35,000. Rao Chess Corner Organised a Grand Chess Festival with 6 tournaments in 6 days, 4 FIDE-rated Classical events, 1 Freestyle tournament, and 1 Puzzle Solving tournament. All 6 tournaments were counted for Grand Prix points.
Nitin S scored an important win in the last round against Ayyappan P Santhana Prabu with black pieces. Sham R also scored a win in the last round against Rutherford S, but better tiebreaks helped Nitin clinch the title.
