The very first scholarship of the HelpChess Foundation, the "Pursue Your Chess Scholarship," was launched six years ago with an amount of Rs. 50,000. Every year, the scholarship amount is increased by Rs. 25,000 and this year, it has reached Rs. 1,75,000. The scholarship is initiated by Ashwin Subramanian, a passionate chess lover and philanthropist. Levon Aronian clinches Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz 2025 with two rounds to spare

Levon Aronian (USA) won Grand Chess Tour Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz 2025 with two rounds to spare. The maestro scored 5.5/9 on the final day, taking his total score 24.5/36 and finished three points ahead of the rest. Fabiano Caruana (USA) scored 21.5/36 to secure second place, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (FRA) was third 21/36. The reigning World Champion, D Gukesh started his day with a draw against the eventual champion, Aronian. Then he won the next three games in-a-row against Sam Shankland (USA), Wesley So (USA) and Nodirbek Abdusattorov (UZB). He scored 5/9 on the final day, finishing with 18/36 at shared sixth place. Vincent Keymer conquers Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters with a 2917 performance, Arjun Erigaisi third

Vincent Keymer (GER) finished Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters in style as he defeated Ray Robson (USA) to finish with an unbeaten 7/9. It was his fifth win of the tournament, finished a whopping two points ahead of the rest, performed at 2917 and gained 20.9 Elo rating points. The last round win also allowed Keymer to cross 2750 in the live ratings. He is now at 2750.9 to be exact and World no.10. Anish Giri (NED) scorched the reigning Dutch champion, Jorden van Foreest (NED) to score his first win of the tournament after eight draws. It was enough for him to secure second place. Arjun Erigaisi had a well contested draw against Karthikeyan Murali to finish third. The total prize fund was ₹1 Crore, for Masters it was ₹7500000. Anirudhha Potawad perfect at 2nd Pinnacle Rapid Rating Open 2025

FM Anirudhha Potawad scored a perfect 9/9 to win 2nd Pinnacle Rapid Rating Open 2025. He finished a full point ahead of the rest. IM Krishnater Kushager and Ankur Mahesh Gokhale scored 8/9 each. They secured second and third place respectively according to tie-breaks. Anirudhha defeated both runners-up in the seventh and fifth round respectively. The total prize fund was ₹400000. The top three prizes were ₹50000, ₹35000 and ₹20000 along with a huge trophy each. The one-day Rapid rating tournament was organized by Pinnacle Chess Events at Korum Mall in Thane, Maharashtra on 20th July 2025. Levon Aronian (USA), Wesley So (USA), Nodirbek Abdusattorov (UZB), Liem Quang Le (VIE) and Grigoriy Oparin (USA) scored 6/9 in the first nine rounds of Blitz. Thus, Aronian has regained sole lead at Grand Chess Tour Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz 2025. He is now at 19/27. Fabiano Caruana (USA) had a tough day as he only score 3/9, same as D Gukesh. Caruana slipped to second place 17/27. He is closely followed by Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (FRA) at 16.5/27. Gukesh's score is 13/27. Nine more rounds of Blitz will be played today. Vincent Keymer (GER) drew his game against Jorden van Foreest (NED) to win Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters 2025 with a round to spare. Arjun Erigaisi had a lukewarm draw against Anish Giri to move to 4.5/8, 1.5 points behind Keymer. Karthikeyan Murali also shared the point with his opponent, Nihal Sarin to take his score 4.5/8. Arjun and Karthikeyan will face each other in the final round to determine the rest of the podium. Pranesh M emerged sole leader 6.5/8 in the Challengers section. Sri Sai Baswanth superb at 100th Paris Open A, Kumaresh second

Sri Sai Baswanth P scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win 100th Paris Open A (1900-2250) 2025. He finished a full point ahead of the rest. Kumaresh A and Alexis Munier (FRA) scored 7/9 each. They secured second and third place respectively according to tie-breaks. The first prize was €1000. The Masters (≥2200) was a successful event for Indians. Four of them finished in top ten. Vignesh Advaith Vemula, FM Raghav V and FM Daaevik Wadhawan scored 6/9 each. All three of them scored an IM-norm each. Vignesh became one of the latest IMs of India at this event. Fabiano Caruana (USA) topped the Rapid portion of Grand Chess Tour Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz 2025. He was undefeated in the first eight rounds. The reigning World Champion was his opponent in the ninth round. He was reeling against the World no.3. Despite having a winning position, Caruana made several mistakes. After a back and forth battle, he suffered his first loss of the event. D Gukesh's resiliency was on display. He became the World Champion for many reasons. Quantbox Chennai GM R7: Vincent Keymer outplays Awonder Liang, storms into World no.10

Vincent Keymer (GER) is now just a win away from becoming the champion of Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters 2025. His convincing win over Awonder Liang (USA) brought his rating to 2747 and World no.10 in live ratings. It does not surprise anyone, that Keymer got into World Top 10. He was on the verge of eliminating Magnus Carlsen (NOR) from FIDE World Cup 2023 and the only player to hand the World no.1 his sole defeat at the event. The Germany no.1 is trained by the legend, Peter Leko (HUN). So, why it took him this long to break into Top 10? The reason is, he was attending school while climbing the ranks. Nubairshah prevails at 16th Vaujany International Festival 2025, Anuj second and Ameya third

IM Mohammad Nubairshah Shaikh scored an unbeaten 7/9 to win 16th Vaujany International Chess Festival Main (>1800) 2025. Nubairshah defeated the defending champion, IM Thibault Dudognon (FRA) to become the champion. Four players - IM Anuj Shrivatri, IM Ameya Audi, GM Thal Abergel (FRA) and GM Jozsef Horvath (HUN) scored 6.5/9 each. They secured second to fifth place respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of Main tournament was €5400. The first prize was €1200. The nine-day nine round Rating tournament was organized by Jean-Pierre Lees at Espace Loisirs in Vaujany, France from 10th to 18th July 2025. Xinyang Nie wins 24th Najdorf Memorial 2025, Deep Sengupta second

IM Xinyang Nie (CHN) scored 7.5/9 to win 24th Najdorf Memorial A (≥2000) 2025. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. The defending champion and winner of the past two editions, GM Deep Sengupta scored sole 7/9 to secure second place. Six players scored 6.5/9 each. Out of them, GM Vladimir Hamitevici (MDA) was placed third due to better tie-break score. The total prize fund of the festival was 50000 PLN, 28000 PLN in A, 12000 in B and 10000 in C. The top three prizes were 8000, 5000 and 4000 PLN each respectively in the A category. FM Rosh Jain is the only other Indian to make a top ten finish. He scored 6/9 to finish ninth. Fabiano Caruana (USA) has emerged new sole leader at Grand Chess Tour Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz 2025. He started the day with a draw against Wesley So (USA). Then he defeated Sam Shankland (USA) and Levon Aronian (USA) in fifth and sixth round respectively to move to the top of the standings 10/12. The World Champion, D Gukesh had a tough day. He once again started his day with a loss. It was against Shanland. Then he drew against Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (FRA) and Nodirbek Abdusattorov (UZB). Currently he is at fifth place with a 50% score 6/12. His last three opponents in the Rapid are Leinier Dominguez Perez (USA), So and Caruana. Round 7 starts at 12 p.m. local time, 10:30 p.m. IST. Quantbox Chennai GM R6: Pranesh beats Abhimanyu, Leon joins them in the lead

The highly anticipated battle between the sole leader, GM Vincent Keymer (GER) and his pursuer GM Arjun Erigaisi ended in a draw. The World no.5 thwarted all attempts made by Keymer to stir up trouble in Round 6 of Quantbox Chennai Grand Masters 2025. GM Awonder Liang (USA) defeated GM Pranav Venkatesh with a beautiful exchange sacrifice in the endgame. This win helped Awonder reach 2700 in live ratings and also reduce the gap with Keymer. Both Arjun and Awonder are now at 3.5/6 each, a full point behind the Germany no.1. Awonder and Keymer will clash in the seventh round. In the Challengers section, GM Pranesh M defeated GM Abhimanyu Puranik to join him in the lead. GM Leon Luke Mendonca also scored a full point over GM Aryan Chopra.
