FIDE Online Olympiad for PWD R7: India 2 finishes ahead of India 1

India 1's campaign came to an end after they suffered a loss by narrow margin against Russia 2 in the seventh and final round of the Swiss league stage in FIDE Online Olympiad for People with Disabilities. India 1 finished 18th, thus their Semi-final hopes dashed. India 2 finished ahead of India 1 at 13th position by beating Romania 1 with a score of 2.5-1.5. India 3 beat Mali by 3-1 and India 4 lost to Russia 3 by 1-3. However 16-year-old Kanishri played fantastic in her only second game of the event and avoided her team getting whitewashed in the final round of the event. Photo: Amruta Mokal

Nepomniachtchi and Nakamura have the mammoth task of winning the day 2 of the Semi-final in Champions Chess Tour Skilling Open. They have already done it in the Quarter-Finals and they have to do it again to keep their chances alive to advance to the Finals. Carlsen won the first game but in the next two games, he seemed to be out of his element, so much so that Nepomniachtchi was winning against him in both of those in the endgame. Nakamura needs to play more true to his style, because we witnessed what So can do if you give him leeway to attack and take control. FIDE Online Olympiad for PWD R6: India 1 is still in the hunt

India 1 bounced back strong and beat Chile by a narrow margin of 2.5-1.5 in Round 6 of FIDE Online Olympiad for People with Disabilities. India 2 beat Kazakhstan by 3-1 and India 3 lost their second match of the tournament, this time against Turkey 1 by 1.5-2.5. India 4 scored a victory again, this time against Romania 2 by 2.5-1.5. During the game, Malika Handa mistakenly pressed 'Resign' button instead of 'Draw Offer', his opponent accepted the game to be continued and the Chief Arbiter allowed. India 1 still has some mathematical chances to advance to the Semi-Finals, however for that to happen, a lot of results need to go in India 1's favor. Today Friday 27th November, India 1 will face Russia 2 in Round 7 which is the final round of the Swiss League stage starting from 7:30 p.m. IST. Skilling Open QF Day 2: Nepomniachtchi, So and Nakamura make epic comebacks

Nepomniachtchi, So and Nakamura defied all odds and won against their respective opponents to advance to the Semi-Finals of Champions Chess Tour Skilling Open. All three needed to win the Rapid mini-matches on the second day of the Quarter-Finals and they did. Nakamura did it in a brilliant fashion as he just won in three matches against Vachier-Lagrave. So drew with Radjabov in the Armageddon in a completely winning position as draw was enough for him to advance. Nepomniachtchi completely dominated Aronian in Blitz. Giri drew all four games in the Rapid to get eliminated by Carlsen. Semi-Finals starts tonight from 10:30 p.m. IST. India 1 had a tough time against Poland 2 in Round 5 of FIDE Online Olympiad for People with Disabilities. Both Shashikant and Naveen had no chance against their respective opponents. Kishan scored the only draw for the team to avoid a whitewash. Jennitha got a winning position but she was unable to convert it into a victory. India 2 defeated Mongolia by 3-1, India 3 went down against Romania 1 by 3-1 and India 4 lost to Colombia by 1.5-2.5. India 1 needs to win the last two rounds of the preliminary stage by maximum margin to have a chance to advance to the Semi-Finals. Skilling Open QF Day 1: Advantage Carlsen, Aronian, Radjabov and MVL

Carlsen had a shaky start in the first game against Giri. However the psychological edge once again paid off as Giri was unable to capitalize on the advantage. After two quiet draws, the fourth game was also on the verge of another draw but Giri made a questionable decision to double his pawns and lost the game. Radjabov played fantastic against So as he needed only three games to best the Fischer-Random world champion on the first day of the Quarter-Final in Champions Chess Tour Skilling Open. Aronian and Vachier-Lagrave won their day 1 encounter against Nepomniachtchi and Nakamura respectively. Giri, So, Nepomniachtchi and Nakamura are in a must-win situation. FIDE Online Olympiad for PWD R4: India 1 holds top seed Poland 1 to a draw

India 1 held the top seed of FIDE Online Olympiad for People with Disabilities, Poland 1 to a 2-2 draw in Round 4. Naveen and Jennitha scored important victories for the team. Shashikant and Kishan almost overcame adversity on the board and got winning opportunities but they couldn't seize them. India 1 is currently at fifth position 7.0/8, a point behind the leaders Russia 1 and Germany. In Round 4, India 2 lost to Russia 2 by 3-1, India 3 beat Canada 3-1 and India 4 held Spain to a 2-2 draw. Champions Chess Tour Skilling Open R11-15: Carlsen tops the preliminary stage

Carlsen topped the Preliminary stage of the Champions Chess Tour Skilling Open with 9.0/15. Nakamura finished at the second position also with 9.0/15. So, Nepomniachtchi and Aronian finished the Round-Robin stage with 8.5/10. Radjabov, Vachier-Lagrave and Giri advanced to the Knockout stage with 8.0/15 respectively. Comedians on Board 3 comes to an end with Joel D'Souza as the champion

The Comedians on Board III was one of the largest ever online chess events to be held. It lasted for three days from 19th to 21st of November 2020. 32 of the best stand-up comedians of India played chess in a knock-out tournament. The event was so massively followed that the live concurrent viewership went as high as 74,000 people! At the end of three gruelling days of chess it was Joel D'Souza who came out as the champion of the event. Vaibhav Sethia finished second and third place went to Samay Raina. India 1 beats Vietnam 2.5-1.5 to join five other teams with 6.0/6 to lead FIDE Online Olympiad for People with Disabilities at the conclusion of Round 3. Kishan played fantastic and scored an emphatic victory. Jennitha managed to save the game from a difficult position and eventually win it. Aryan drew his game and Shashikant suffered a loss. India 2, 3 and 4 made draws with North Macedonia, Philippines 2 and Brazil respectively. Today Tuesday 24th November India 1 will face top seed Poland 1 in Round 4 starting from 7:30 p.m. IST.

Champions Chess Tour Skilling Open R6-10: Anish Giri maintains his sole lead

Anish Giri maintains his sole lead with 6.5/10 at the conclusion of Day 2 at Champions Chess Tour Skilling Open. The Dutch no.1 drew all five of his games on the second day including the game against Carlsen. Carlsen, So and Ding Liren are at shared second spot with 6.0/10. Karjakin spoiled Carlsen's day as he trapped the world champion's queen and handed him his second defeat of the tournament. So drew four and beat Liem. Ding Liren scored a fantastic win against Radjabov, ending his winning streak. Vidit had a better day as he drew four games after losing against Karjakin. Three Indian teams - India 1, 2 and 3 register victories in Round 2. India 1 defeated Argentina by narrow margin of 2.5-1.5. India 2 and 3 whitewashed Turkey 4 and El Salvador by 4-0 each respectively. India 4 delivered an impressive performance against Ukraine 2, although they lost by 3-1, Marimuthu and Sanjay played brilliantly and got winning positions against much higher rated opponents respectively. India 1 needs to register win by bigger margins as only top four teams will advance to the Semi-Finals. Today Monday 23rd November India 1 will face Vietnam in Round 3 starting from 7:30 p.m. IST.

Champions Chess Tour Skilling Open R1-5: Anish Giri takes sole lead

Anish Giri takes the sole lead with 4.0/5 at the conclusion of Day 1 at Champions Chess Tour Skilling Open. Despite arriving almost four minutes late to his game against Nakamura, Giri managed to get a good position and eventually made a draw. At least rating-wise the underdog of the tournament Spanish GM David Anton Guijarro made the most of his opportunities by beating Svidler, Nepomniachtchi and Radjabov. His only blemish was against Carlsen who made a good recovery after losing to Nepomniachtchi in the first round of the game due to mouse slip. India 1 and India 4 make a winning start by registering victories over Azerbaijan and Venezuela. IM Shashikant Kutwal who is also the captain of the team, Kishan Gangolli and WIM Jennitha Anto K registered emphatic victories to secure a victory for the team India 1. Marimuthu, Krishna and Sanjay ensured India 4's win over higher rated Venezuela. Both wins for team India came in the form of 3-1. With six more rounds to go for the Swiss league stage, India 1 definitely has good chances to advance to the knockout stage. Today Sunday 22nd November India 1 will face Argentina and India 4 will go up against Ukraine 2 in Round 2 starting from 7:30 p.m. IST.
