Harsha Bharathakoti clear first at Thanksgiving Open 2025

GM Harsha Bharathakoti scored an unbeaten 4.5/5 to win Thanksgiving Open 2025. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. The total prize fund was US$ 4200. The top three prizes were US$ 1000, $600 and $400 in the Open section which was a FIDE rated event. The three-day five round Rating Open tournament was organized by and at Saint Louis Chess Club in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA from 14th to 16th November 2025. XTX London Chess Classic Open 2025 R1: Praggnanandhaa and Pranav Anand make a winning start

GM R Praggnanandhaa and GM Pranav Anand made a winning start at XTX Markets London Chess Classic Open 2025. The category has a rating restriction of above 2100. Praggnanandhaa made a slightly shaky start as he got into trouble against FM Stanley Badacsonyi (ENG). However, the English could not capitalize on his opportunity and Praggnanandhaa won the game comfortably. Pranav continues his great form after winning President's Cup in Tajikistan. He defeated Sidney Panjer (GER) comfortably. The reigning National double champion, GM Iniyan Pa drew against FM Rishi Vijayakumar (SCO) after the former missed few decent chances in the game. 19-year-old Javokhir Sindarov becomes the youngest ever FIDE World Cup Champion

Javokhir Sindarov (UZB) has created history by becoming the youngest ever to win a FIDE World Cup. He won it at the age of 19 years. The first tie-break Rapid game ended in a draw after Wei Yi (CHN) blundered in the same color bishop endgame. Sindarov missed his opportunity. However, Sindarov won the second tie-break game after Wei could not capitalize on his chance in the complex major piece endgame. Thus, Sindarov brought the biggest individual glory to Uzbekistan, since Rustam Kasimdzhanov became World Champion in 2004. Fun fact: Both World Cup winners - Divya Deshmukh (Women) and Sindarov, won it at the age of 19 years and they are born just a day apart. Hard work definitely brought them success. Maybe destiny too? One thing is for sure as Sindarov mentioned in the post-tournament Press Conference, India and Uzbekistan players are going to fight for the top honors in the near future - Olympiad and World Cup are just the beginning. Srinika S wins 1st Eight Square Chess Academy Below 1700 Rating Tournament 2025

Srinika S, Shrikkanth Avyukth (USA) and Ansh Kumar Tiwari scored an unbeaten 8/9 each at 1st Eight Square Chess Academy Below 1700 Rating Tournament 2025. Srinika won the tournament on tie-breaks, Shrikkanth and Ansh secured second and third place respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund was ₹500000. The top three prizes were ₹60000, ₹40000 and ₹30000 along with a trophy each. The three-day nine round Below 1700 Rating tournament was organized by Eight Square Chess Academy at Hall of Chess, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu from 14th to 16th November 2025. Shriraj Bhosale clear first at Nashik Chess Festival 1st RCC Rating Open 2025

Shriraj Bhosale scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win Nashik Chess Festival 1st RCC Rating Open 2025. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. Viraj Rane, Daksh Jagesia and Riyansh Dwivedi scored 7.5/9 each. They secured second, third and fourth place according to tie-breaks. Shriraj drew with the eventual runner-up, Viraj in the seventh round. The total prize fund was ₹300000 + 88 trophies. The top three prizes were ₹35000, ₹20000 and ₹15000 along with trophy each. The six-day nine round Rating Open tournament was  organized by Revolutionary Chess Club and Chaturang Gurukulam at Reshimbandh Banquet Hall in Nashik, Maharashtra from 11th to 16th November 2025. Shriraj also won the Blitz Open tournament scoring 7.5/8, part of the festival. This is Shriraj's 14th and 15th overall, second rating tournament triumph of the year.

Tie-breaks will decide the winner of FIDE World Cup 2025, Esipenko third

The second Final game between Wei Yi (CHN) and Javokhir Sindarov (UZB) ended in a draw at FIDE World Cup 2025. It lasted only 24.5 minutes and 30 moves. Spectators of the sport might be disappointed for such an outcome in the Classical game of the Final. However, the nonexistence of a rest day before the Finals, resulted in players taking a quick day at the office. Both Wei and Sindarov have remained undefeated in the Classical battles in this event. Both of them have had fantastic tie-breaks. One thing is for sure, the event will have an exciting finish. Andrey Esipenko won the second game against Nodirbek Yakubboev (UZB) to make a fantastic comeback after his one-move blunder against Wei in the Semifinls. World Amateur 2025: Anshu Pathak secures Silver, Bronze for Disha U A

Meder Dzhaparov (KGZ) scored 8/9 to win Gold at World Amateur Championship 2025 in Under-1700 Open category. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. Anshu Kr. Pathak and Dashdavaa Dulguunjargal (MGL) scored 7.5/9 each. Anshu won Silver and Dashdavaa Bronze according to tie-breaks. Nasser Alshamsi Mouza (UAE) won Under-1700 Women scoring 7/9. Ayala Kuanyshbay (KAZ) and Disha U A scored 6.5/9 each. Ayala got Silver and Disha Bronze as per tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was €15000, €3000 in U1700. The top three prizes in U1700 Open were €1000, €600 and €400 along with a trophy and medal each. Muhammad Ihsan and Balamurugan Senthilkumar scored 8/9 each at 2nd Akshaya Institutions Below 1800 Rating Tournament 2025. Ihsan won the tournament due to better tie-breaks, Balamurugan secured second place. Ihsan defeated the eventual runner-up, Balamurugan in the seventh round. Seven players scored 7.5/9 each. Out of them, Takkshanth Anand was placed third. The total prize fund was ₹400000. The top three prizes were ₹50000 + laptop, ₹35000 and ₹25000 each. The three-day nine round Below 1800 Rating tournament was organized by Akshaya Institutions and Miracle School of Chess, Coimbatore at Akshaya Institutions in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu from 7th to 9th November 2025. FIDE World Cup 2025 Finals: Wei misses a half chance after creating it

Wei Yi (CHN) created a half chance for himself against Javokhir Sindarov (UZB) in the first Finals game of FIDE World Cup 2025. However, when the moment arose to go for a line where only he could push for a win, he opted for the safer choice. It could be the stakes are too high to what he might have perceived as risky or the fatigue of playing all three formats of high level of chess for three weeks. One can only fathom. We might get the answer to it tomorrow. After missing an early opportunity, Andrey Esipenko struck late in the endgame against Nodirbek Yakubboev (UZB). Jaiveer won the tournament on tie-breaks, Suyog and Anuj secured second and third place respectively. Only Anuj remained undefeated among them. The total prize fund was ₹400000. Wei Yi and Javokhir Sindarov will square off in the Finals of FIDE World Cup 2025

Wei Yi (CHN) will face Javokhir Sindarov (UZB) in the Finals of FIDE World Cup 2025. The first game was a well-contested draw between Wei and Andrey Esipenko. However, in the second game, Esipenko hung his rook in a similar way he dropped his bishop against D Gukesh in the previous World Cup Quarterfinals. This time Esipenko had an advantageous position where he dropped his rook and the World Cup. Sindarov started the day with a nice technical win in the double rook endgame against Nodirbek Yakubboev (UZB). He was winning in the second game. However, he played cautiously and drew as it was enough for him to advance to the Final and secure his place in the FIDE Candidates 2026. Wei and Sindarov will focus only on Finals from tomorrow. Chaitanya Awadh scored 8/9 to win 1st G H Raisoni Memorial Chhindwara Rapid Rating Open 2025. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. Six players - Ayush Jugele, Sudhir Kumar Sinha, Shubham Lakudkar, Maras Sahejveer Singh, Vaibhav Nema and Saksham Wadhwa scored 7.5/9 each. They secured second to seventh place respectively. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹31000, ₹25000 and ₹20000 each respectively. The Vibrants convincingly clinches Japan Team Chess Championship 2025

Japan Chess Federation hosted the 2025 edition of the annual Japan Teams Chess Championship, typically held in the pleasant weather of Autumn. When the Japan Open is held earlier in the year, the Teams event happens to be the last major event of the calendar year. This event holds a special memory, as the 2023 edition was my very first event as an arbiter. The experience led to bigger and better things, eventually leading to me becoming a FIDE Arbiter earlier this year. I may eventually want to play in this event, as well as arbitrate in future events. FIDE World Cup 2025 SF2: Tie-breaks to determine the Finalists

FIDE World Cup 2025 finalists will be determined based on tie-breaks. The second Classical game of both Semifinals ended in draws. The All-Uzbek clash between Javokhir Sindarov and Nodirbek Yakubboev ended in less than 90 minutes. It was a calm battle. The other game between Andrey Esipenko and Wei Yi (CHN) seemed like a potential battle, but it all fizzled out into a draw. The game ended when the players decided to repeat moves in a queen and minor piece endgames. This battle lasted a little less than three and a half hours.
