MCCT Finals R3: Praggnanandhaa squashes Liem 3-0

Praggnanandhaa scored his first match victory in the third round of Meltwater Champions Chess Tour Finals. He defeated the former World Blitz champion, Liem Quang Le in three consecutive games. In all three games, the 17-year-old showed a fantastic positional understanding, punctuated by his sharp tactical awareness. This 3-0 win propelled him to the fourth spot on the points table, sharing the same score 4/9 with Giri and Liem. Arjun Erigaisi's tough form continues as he suffered another loss in just three games. This time against the former World Fischer Random champion, Wesley So. Carlsen defeated Mamedyarov 3-0 and Duda defeated Giri 2.5-0.5. Round 4 pairings are, Praggnanandhaa vs So and Mamedyarov vs Arjun Erigaisi, starting tonight 18th November at 1:30 a.m. IST. 54-year-old P D S Girinath triumphs at 1st BongCloud Rapid Rating Open 2022

Generally, we almost always see a young player creating/breaking new record quite often. It's time to rejoice for adults and veterans as IM P D S Girinath scored eight straight victories at 1st BongCloud Rapid Rating Open 2022. A last round loss did not affect his first place position. Three more players - FM R Ashwath, IM Kushagra Mohan and top seed GM Thej Kumar M S scored 8/9 each. They were placed second to fourth according to tie-breaks. Thej was the only one to beat the eventual champion. Girinath showed that age is just a number. His knowledge, skills and understanding of the game is timeless. The total cash prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹40000, ₹25000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each. Vignesh N R clinches 34th All India Railway Chess Championship 2022

IM Vignesh N R of Southern Railway scored an unbeaten 6/7 to win 34th All India Inter Railways Individual Chess Championship 2022. Vignesh has also won the previous edition which took place early this year. He finished second in his debut year 2019. Thus, Vignesh's three performance at All India Railways have been a second place finish and two as champion which is certainly outstanding. Four players scored 5.5/7 each. GM Swapnil Dhopade of Central Railway and GM Karthikeyan P of ICF were adjudged second and third respectively according to tie-breaks. MCCT Finals R2: Giri makes a comeback against Praggnanandhaa

Praggnanandhaa made a fantastic start by winning the first two games of Round 2. However, Giri bounced back by winning the next two and forced tie-breaks. The World no.7 won the first Blitz tie-break and drew the second to win the match. Arjun Erigaisi should have drawn his first game against Magnus Carlsen in the queen endgame. An incorrect queen trade offer cost him the game. He drew the next and lost the third one which allowed the World no.1 to win the second round encounter. Liem also took only three games to win his match against So. Duda defeated Mamedyarov without conceding a single loss. MCCT Finals R1: Tough start for Arjun and Praggnanandhaa

Both Arjun Erigaisi and Praggnanandhaa started with a loss at Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2022 Finals. Arjun Erigaisi did not manage to score a single win in the first round against Jan-Krzysztof Duda. He got a great opportunity in the very first game. However, a fumble allowed the FIDE World Cup 2021 winner to get back in the game. Praggnanandhaa managed to level the score in the third game after starting the day with a loss and a draw. However, another loss in the fourth game meant him losing the match. Carlsen defeated So and Giri beat Liem in tie-breaks. Praggnanandhaa will face Giri and Arjun will be up against Carlsen in Round 2 which starts tonight 16th November at 1:30 a.m. IST. Launching ChessPa in Chess Adventure Park - a children's chess book

ChessPa in Chess Adventure Park was a passion project of Amruta Mokal, the co-founder and COO of ChessBase India. She teamed up with Ketaki Kulkarni and Sagar Shah and together they created a book that is a very unique offering for young kids to learn the game of chess in a fun and interactive way. What is the right age to learn chess, you may ask? With this book even a 1-year-old kid can enjoy the illustrations and the parents can kickstart the kid's journey in the world of chess. The main character of the book is ChessPa and he takes you on a journey in the Chess Adventure Park. Launched on Children's Day, this is the first ever chess book published by ChessBase India.

The Finals of Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2022 season starts tonight. Tour champion, Magnus Carlsen will be joined by Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Liem Quang Le, Wesley So, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, R Praggnanandhaa, Arjun Erigaisi and Anish Giri. Four players - Carlsen, So, Praggnanandhaa and Giri will compete from SHACK15 in San Francisco, California in USA, while the other four will play remotely in a unique online and in-person hybrid round-robin tournament. Vidit Gujrathi and Raunak Sadhwani finish 2nd in the Fall Chess Classic

A total of 3 Indian players participated in the Fall Chess Classic, a 10-player round robin event - Vidit Gujrathi, Surya Sekhar Ganguly and Raunak Sadhwani. GM Yu Yangyi scored 6.5/9 to win the A group, while Vidit scored 6/9 to bag the 2nd position in A group. With this win, Vidit has reinstated his India no. 2 position, taking his live rating to 2730. In the B group, it was GM Aleksandr Lenderman who clinched the 1st place, and Raunak Sadhwani came in 2nd. It was a tough tournament for Surya Ganguly - he was only able to score 1 win in group A, scoring 2.5/9. The event had a total prize fund of USD 36,000. Sumer Arsh stuns Gukesh and Arjun Erigaisi in a Tandem Simul at Dreamhack Hyderabad 2022

Simultaneous exhibition gives a good opportunity for the young talented players to show their mettle against the masters. The India no.2 and 4, GM D Gukesh and GM Arjun Erigaisi took on 20 players in a Tandem Simul at Dreamhack Hyderabad 2022. 13-year-old CM Shaik Sumer Arsh (2290) managed to score the sole win against the Grandmaster duo. Md. Bashiq Imrose (1724) provided staunch resistance to draw against two of the India's bests. The newly crowned National Under-7 Open champion, Nidhish Shyamal (1335) also played well. Six-year-old Divith Reddy Adulla (1136) also impressed the world-class GMs. One thing is for sure, all 20 players left with a memory of a lifetime and a wealth of experience. Nitin and Rathanvel win D A V Krida Kendram Rapid and Blitz Rating Open 2022

IM Nitin S and FM Harsh Suresh scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 at D A V Krida Kendram Rapid Rating Open 2022. However, the former won the tournament due to better tie-breaks and the latter settled with second place. Harsh also finished third in the Blitz Rating Open, scoring 7/8. IM Ajay Krishna S was adjudged third out of the four players who finished at 8/9. IM Rathanvel V S edged past GM Laxman R R on tie-breaks to win the Blitz Rating event. Both scored 7.5/8 each and remained undefeated. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹300000, ₹200000 for Rapid and ₹100000 for Blitz comprising 195 and 144 prizes respectively. Jval Saurin Patel and Prishita Gupta win the National U-11 Championships

Jval Saurin Patel (1702, GUJ) won the National U-11 Championships held in Gurugram, Haryana! The young Gujrat lad scored 10/11 and bagged the champions trophy along with a huge prize money of Rs.80,000. In the Girls Category, It was Prishita Gupta (1556, DEL) who stood victorious with 9/11 and bagged a cash prize of Rs. 80,000. A total of 5 players tied for the 2nd place with 8.5/11. M R Lalit Babu and Abhimanyu Puranik win Chess @ Dreamhack Rapid and Blitz Open 2022

The biggest open gaming convention in India, Dreamhack Hyderabad hosted a Rapid and a Blitz Open chess tournament. GM M R Lalit Babu and GM Abhimanyu Puranik won the Rapid and Blitz event respectively. They earned ₹150000 and ₹40000 along with a trophy each respectively. The total prize fund was ₹1000000, ₹750000 for Rapid and ₹250000 for Blitz. Chess literally and figuratively was the center stage of Dreamhack Hyderabad 2022. Over 320 players including various GMs and IMs from all over the country gathered to be a part of this unique festival where the background music and noise was not a thing of a concern.
